Snooker: Young Scots to clash in Malta
BONNYRIGG'S Michael Leslie will meet Perth's Scott Donaldson in the quarter-finals of the European Under-17 Snooker championship in Malta.
Donaldson, 15, narrowly lost out to 3-2 to Ruberg Shachar, from Israel, which meant he finished runner-up in his group. Donaldson led 2-1 in the match but Ruberg finished off with breaks of 79 to level the clash plus a 60 to win the decider. Leslie, 16, beat Mateusz Piorkowski, of Austria, 3-2 to remain unbeaten and win his group. He won the first frame with a 32 break before Piorkowski levelled with a 52. A 38 break was enough for Leslie to go ahead, however, he lost the next on the blue. In the decider, Leslie produced breaks of 29 and 60 to secure the match.
