Snooker: McGillivray hoping to pocket East crown
Edinburgh's Craig McGillivray will start as one of the favourites for the 2010 East of Scotland Snooker Championship, which gets underway at the Capital's Corn Exchange on 19 September.
The on-form cueman, who was professional for several years, has yet to win the title.
He said: "If I play as I have been recently then I stand a really good chance, however I will need to play well. There are some really good players coming through now and they will also be looking to get their hands on the trophy."
Last year's champion Eden Sharav of Alloa, could prevent McGillivray from lifting the title. The youngster has proven he can win on the big stage and will fancy his chances again. Michael Leslie (Bonnyrigg) will also be looking to add the senior title to his junior title.
Matches will take place in the Corn Exchange's Matchroom each evening with every match being refereed.
Michael Gallacher, the 2004 champion and 2008 runner-up said: "To play in proper match conditions with a referee from the first round is really special."
• The closing date for entries is tomorrow and the entry fee is 12.50. Anyone interested should call Kenny Baird on 07711-264928.
