Snooker: Carlisle in final
EDINBURGH'S Robert Carlisle produced a superb performance to reach the final of the Main Tour Event 4 at The Locarno Snooker Club in Edinburgh, defeating Scottish No.1 James McBain (Glasgow) 5-3 in the semi-final.
Carlisle made breaks of 114, 58 and 52 in a high-quality encounter and led from the start. McBain also made a century and two 50 breaks but could not stop Carlisle reaching his first Main Tour final.
In the quarter-finals Carlisle had needed a last-frame decider to defeat Edinburgh's Ross Valance. Carlisle will now meet Glasgow's Scott McKenzie who defeated Bonnyrigg's Michael Leslie 5-1 in his semi-final.
