Snooker: Hamilton’s masterclass ends Leslie’s hopes in Belgium

Bonnyrigg professional Michael Leslie crashed out of the Belgian Open yesterday, losing 4-0 to Nottingham’s
Anthony Hamilton.

Hamilton was in excellent form. Breaks of 96 in the opening frame, 54 in the second round and 73 in the third were enough for Hamilton to open up a 3-0 lead. The world number 32 then wrapped up the match with runs of 21 and 28 in the fourth to secure a 4-0 victory. Fellow Scots John Higgins, Anthony McGill and Jamie Burnett all safely negotiated their opening round ties but Marcus Campbell lost out to Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon. Perth’s Scott Donaldson is in action today when he faces one of the tournament qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Granton’s Craig MacGillivray will be hoping to keep his good run going when the Masters Series continues at the Locarno Snooker Club in Edinburgh tomorrow. The event is open to anyone over the age of 40 and commences at 11am.
