Leslie comes up short in Perry joust
Bonnyrigg snooker professional Michael Leslie went down 4-1 to Joe Perry in event 2 of the Players Tour Championship at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester.
The Bonnyrigg cueman made a bright start against the one-time world championship semi-finalist, making a 66 break to win the opening frame. However, Perry, the world No.24 from Cambridgeshire, levelled the match with runs of 44 and 42 before winning a scrappy third frame to open up a 2-1 lead. Perry then took control of the match, winning the fourth frame with a magnificant 121 break followed by a 70 break in the fifth to secure his place in the next round.
Meanwhile, Perth’s Scott Donaldson defeated Glasgow’s Fraser Patrick 4-2 in the opening round to set-up a clash against world No.28 Marco Fu.
Leslie will next face Ken Doherty in the qualifying rounds for the Gdynia Open next weekend at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
