Snooker: Leslie and McGill battle it out in final
BONNYRIGG'S Michael Leslie and Anthony McGill of Glasgow will contest the final of the M-PACT Building Services Under-21 snooker series at the World of Snooker, Corn Exchange, Chesser, tomorrow.
Both players fought off comebacks in their semi-finals. Leslie was 3-0 up against European under-19 semi-finalist Robert Carlisle before being pulled back to 3-3, however, an excellent black in frame eight secured a 5-3 victory.
McGill raced into a 4-0 lead against Eden Sharav thanks to breaks of 100, 50 and 49. Sharav won the next two and was unlucky not to win the next as he went down by 5 frames to 2.
McGill and Leslie have been the most consistent players on the circuit this season and recently competed in the final of the Scottish Open Championship, in which McGill came out on top. Leslie, who is National champion at under-19 and under-21 levels, got his revenge on the way to the recent Chesser Challenge title.
The invitational competition started with 16 of Scotland best under-21 players playing seven matches in round-robin format.
World champion John Higgins has agreed to attend and help present the prizes and anyone looking for tickets for the final should contact Mike Leslie on 0795 875 9444.
