With Danny Ings likely to leave Turf Moor and Ashley Barnes facing nine months out of action after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Sean Dyche will be keen to move swiftly to bring in more options up top and it is understood that the Clarets have scouted both Cummings and Malonga in their extensive search for attacking options.

Ings’ departure and the injury to Barnes would leave Burnley with Lukas Jutkiewicz, Marvin Sordell and Sam Vokes as the three experienced strikers, with 20-year-old Jason Gilchrist yet to feature for the first team.

Burnley were relegated from the English Premier League after winning just seven games and scoring 28 goals - the lowest ‘goals against’ total in the division. They finished 19th in the table, dropping down to the Championship along with Hull and QPR.
