Senior Open moves to Torrance Course

THE Scottish Senior Open, which has been held either at Dalmahoy near Edinburgh or the Roxburghe in the Borders since 1998, will move to Fife this summer when the championship is held for the first time over the Torrance Course at the Fairmont St Andrews.

Sponsorship from clubmakers Cleveland and ball manufacturers Srixon will help the long-running tournament, which was first staged at Royal Aberdeen in 1993, take place from 21-23 August.

Having been involved in the redesign of the seaside course which bears his name, Sam Torrance will be keen to improve on his runner up place in 2008 behind Peter Mitchell, who sealed the second of his three Senior Tour victories last year at the Marriott Dalmahoy.

Torrance, of course, won the Scottish Senior Open title at Dalmahoy in 2006, following in the footsteps of compatriots David Huish in 1998 and Bill Longmuir in 2004.
