Alloa Athletic 1 Queen's Park 3

QUEEN'S Park won for the first time in seven matches as Alloa had an afternoon to forget.

The game erupted just before the break when Alloa keeper Raymond Jellema was sent off after tripping Stevie Nicholas in the area. Paul Cairney converted the penalty. Ian Watt then fired in a 25-yard effort past sub-keeper Michael White.

Kyle Macaulay pulled a goal back for Alloa, but Paul Harkins made it three for Queens late on.

Arbroath 1

Stranraer 0

ARBROATH climbed off the bottom of the table with a hard fought victory over the team that replaced them in the basement berth.

Bryan Scott netted the only goal of the game after 20 minutes. Stranraer thought they had been awarded a spot kick 60 seconds later when referee Frank McDermott pointed to the spot. But the whistler controversially reversed his decision following talks with his linesman. Andy Gibson was then denied as Arbroath held on.

Ayr United 4

East Fife 2

EAST FIFE lost away from home for the second week in a row as the Honest Men romped to victory at Somerset Park.

Ryan Stevenson headed the opening goal, before further strikes from David Gormley and William Easton created the three-goal cushion.

Bobby Linn reduced the deficit before Dean Keenan added Ayr's fourth. Ayr United's Neil McGowan saw red for a professional foul before Kevin Fotheringham notched a late consolation.

A DRAW was a fair result from an entertaining encounter at Balmoor that saw both sides hit the woodwork.

Graeme Sharp fired the Blue Toon in front when he netted from Stuart Mackay's assist. But John O'Neil levelled in spectacular circumstances at the start of the second half, Mark Docherty swung a free kick into the area, and O'Neil netted with an overhead kick. Both sides pushed for a winner but it finished a draw.

BRECHIN came back from a two-goal deficit as the top two entertained the crowd at Stark's Park.

Gary Wales gave Raith the lead at the end of the first half and Gareth Wardlaw made it two from close range at the start of the second half.

Brechin made changes and substitute Richard Walker set up fellow replacement Ian Diack who pulled a goal back. Gary Twigg netted the equaliser for Brechin late on when he rose to head home.
