Alloa Athletic 4 Stirling Albion 3

ALLOA staved off a late fightback from Stirling.

Jamie Stevenson fired the home men in front midway through the first half with a fine turn and finish. Kyle MacAulay doubled Alloa's lead before Fraser Forrest gave them a three-goal cushion.

Martin Grehan pulled a goal back before Brown Ferguson restored the three-goal advantage. Stirling staged a late revival after a Dougie Hill own goal and a Paul Murphy strike, but Alloa held on.

Arbroath 1

Brechin City 2

BRECHIN remain joint top after they saw off the bottom club at Gayfield.

Bryan Scott fired Arbroath in front midway through the first half when he got on the end of a Craig Forsyth header.

Brechin's John Baird had the ball in the net soon after but referee Colin Brown had already blown for an earlier infringement.

Gary Twigg eventually levelled for Brechin with a header from a tight angle before netting his second late on to secure victory.

Ayr United 3

Stranraer 2

AYR maintained their unbeaten home record as Stranraer slumped to their third successive defeat.

David Gormley fired the home side in front after only 90 seconds when he knocked home the rebound after Neil McGowan's shot was parried by Scott Black. Bryan Prunty netted Ayr's second before Gregory Tade reduced the deficit from the penalty spot on half-time.

William Easton restored Ayr's two-goal lead before Alex White pulled one back.

East Fife 0

Raith Rovers 2

RAITH remain top on goal difference following a comfortable victory over a stubborn Fife outfit.

East Fife could have taken an early lead but Bobby Linn was denied by a fine save from Gary O'Connor. Raith took advantage and Kevin Smith fired them in front from a Gary Wales cutback.

Robert Sloan doubled Raith's lead at the start of the second half with a stunning free kick from the edge of the box that flew into the top corner.

Peterhead 4

Queen's Park 1

MARTIN Bavidge netted a second-half hat-trick as Peterhead came back to beat the Spiders.

Adam Coakley gave Queens an early lead when he curled home from 12 yards. But Graham Sharp equalised from close range after 19 minutes.

Peterhead dominated after the break with Bavidge netting three in the space of 21 minutes. He gave Peterhead the lead from the edge of the area before another high finish and a spot kick.
