Arbroath 0 Ayr United 3

THIS game was over as a contest inside the opening quarter as Arbroath's woeful run continued.

Martin Campbell opened the scoring for Ayr after nine minutes. William Easton then doubled the visitors' advantage 90 seconds later. Bryan Prunty netted the third after 22 minutes with a delicate chip over Darren Hill from the edge of the area.

Any faint hopes of an Arbroath comeback were dealt a fatal blow by the dismissal of Barry Sellars.

Peterhead 5

Brechin City 1

BRECHIN lost their first match of the season as Peterhead fought back from an early deficit to romp to victory at Balmoor.

Darren Smith gave the league leaders the advantage, but two goals in 90 seconds saw Peterhead take the lead. David Ross levelled before Martin Bavidge fired the home side in front.

Bavidge netted his second and Graham Sharp scored before the break. Dean Cowie completed the scoring in injury time.

Queen's Park 0

East Fife 0

The Fifers' long unbeaten away record remains intact following a keenly contested goalless encounter.

Chances were at a premium in a hard fought first half. East Fife's Steven Tweed went closest, but he sent his early header straight at Spiders goalie David Crawford.

The second half was more open and Queens' Adam Coakley was denied by a fingertip save. Tweed then sent a header off the crossbar for the Fifers.

Raith Rovers 4

Alloa Athletic 1

RAITH won their fourth successive match to move top of the table.

Andy Scott gave the visitors the lead with a stunning 35-yard strike after only six minutes, but Rovers were back on level terms 60 seconds later when Gary Wales equalised from the penalty spot.

Raith coasted to victory following three goals in the space of 12 minutes. Mark Ferry fired the Kirkcaldy men in front before a double from Kevin Smith made sure of the points.

Stirling Albion 3

Stranraer 2

AN ENTERTAINING match at Forthbank saw the Binos twice come from behind to secure their first victory in six outings.

Gregory Tade put the Blues in front on the stroke of half-time but Martin Grehan levelled for Stirling within 60 seconds of the restart.

Ian Dobbins restored Stranraer's lead, but a double from Craig Molloy, first with a low finish then with a lob from the edge of the area, took all three points.
