Second Division: Jim Weir tasks Brechin with winning run-in

Brechin City manager Jim Weir is continuing to demand wins from his second-placed side starting against Alloa tonight despite conceding that the title is bound for Livingston.

Weir said: "The championship is Livingston's to throw away but I want my side to finish as high up the table as we can. With seven of the ten games we have to play being at home we not only have the chance of grabbing a play-off spot we have the chance to go into them having built up some momentum."

Full back Paul McLean and midfielder Charlie King remain out for Weir's side with Gerry McLauchlan, Jamie Redman and Rory McAllister all expected to feature despite carrying knocks.

Alloa manager Allan Maitland went back to the drawing board after his side's goalless draw with Peterhead to pick his side after losing midfielder Brown Ferguson to injury and having trialist Fraser Forrest no longer available after playing in the maximum three games permitted.

Maitland, who is already without Ross Philp, James Bloom, Darren Smith, Bryan Prunty and Nathan Taggart through injury, said: "We are getting no chance at all to build continuity in the team as we have so many injuries. We had five guys out at the weekend and have now lost two from the starting line-up."

Livingston, who boast an 18-point advantage at the top having won their last six games, host a Peterhead side who won 3-0 the last time the sides met.

East Fife will again be without the injured trio of Stevie Campbell, Robert Sloan and Jim Hamilton for the visit of Ayr United, who are missing the suspended Eddie Malone.

Forfar Athletic aim to stop Airdrie United completing a clean sweep of wins over them this season as the teams face each other just three days after the Station Park side lost 3-1 at the Excelsior Stadium, while Stenhousemuir host Dumbarton in a crunch relegation game.
