Airdrie are still in with an outside chance of catching Forfar for the final play-off slot after beating the Angus side 3-1.
A Scott Gallacher own goal plus strikes from Ryan McCord and Ryan Donnelly proved decisive.
Alloa Athletic 0, Peterhead 0
Alloa and Peterhead shared the spoils after a goalless draw at Recreation Park.
The visitors had the best effort of the match on 22 minutes through Paul Emslie but Jamie Ewings was equal to it.
Brechin City 6, Dumbarton 0
BRECHIN got over their midweek Scottish cup exit as a David McKenna hat-trick and goals from Jamie Redman, Rory McAllister and Mitch Megginson saw them steamroller Dumbarton and leapfrog Ayr United into second place in the league.
East Fife 1, Livingston 3
Kenny Deuchar opened the scoring for Livi in 27 minutes but East Fife levelled through Ryan Wallace on the hour mark. Deuchar restored Livi's advantage ten minutes later and Kyle Jacobs made sure of the points with seven minutes to go.
Stenhousemuir 2, Ayr United 1
A DRAMATIC finish at Ochilview saw Stenhousemuir take full points.
Simon Lynch got the opener for the Warriors in the third minute. Late on, Mark Roberts looked to have snatched a point but Mike Devlin grabbed a win for the hosts.
