Alloa Athletic 2 Stirling Albion 3

A FIVE-GOAL thriller at Recreation Park saw the Binos come from behind to secure all three points.

Stuart Noble fired the Wasps ahead early on with a fine finish from a Brown Ferguson cross. But two goals in the space of four minutes soon after the restart saw Stirling come back to take the lead. David McKenna levelled from the penalty spot, before Martin Grehan put Albion in front.

Pat Scullion drew Alloa level, but McKenna netted a second to win the match.

Arbroath 0

Brechin City 0

GOALSCORING chances were at a premium as Arbroath continued to pick up points in their fight to avoid a relegation play-off.

Brechin dominated for long spells, but it was Arbroath who created the better opportunities. Robbie Ross should have won the match for Arbroath late on, but he failed to hit the target when clean through on goal. Roddy Black also went close.

Brechin's best chance fell to Charlie King who fired over when well placed.

Ayr United 5

Stranraer 0

AYR remain top of the table on goal difference following a convincing victory over the league's bottom club.

Bryan Prunty fired Ayr in front after 24 minutes. Prunty turned provider for Ayr's second after 40 minutes, setting up Ryan Stevenson who netted from close range. Ayr opened up a three-goal cushion before the break when Neil McGowan fired home.

Chris Aitken added a fourth, and Alex Williams completed the scoring late on.

East Fife 0

Raith Rovers 1

ROVERS left it late as Graham Weir struck the only goal to keep his side level on points with Ayr at the top of the table.

Weir went close for Rovers in the first half but it was the Fifers who almost broke the deadlock moments after the restart when substitute Lee Makel fired in an effort that was saved by David McGurn.

Weir eventually netted the winner for Raith after 75 minutes when he fired high into the net from a Gary Wales cutback.

Peterhead 1

Queen's Park 1

PETERHEAD extended their unbeaten run to seven, but could not find the winner against the Spiders despite dominating for long spells of the match.

The Blue Toon created a series of chances in a goalless first half. But it was Queens who took the lead against the run of play after 54 minutes when Ian Watt fired home at the back post.

The Spiders advantage was short-lived as Stuart Anderson struck almost immediately when he fired home a low 20-yard effort.
