Scottish duo get call to GB&I team
SCOTTISH pair Wallace Booth and Callum Macaulay have been named in the Great Britain and Ireland team to face Europe in the St Andrews Trophy at the end of this month.
The St Andrews Trophy, a biennial match between Britain and Europe's finest amateur golfers, takes place at Kingsbarns Golf Links near St Andrews on 29-30 August and the nine-man GB&I team will be captained by Colin Dalgleish.
Booth, from Comrie, was the winner of this year's Scottish Stroke Play, while Tulliallan's Macaulay is the top-ranked amateur golfer in Scotland after winning the Scottish Amateur Championship at Carnoustie earlier this month.
"We have selected our best available team to retain the St Andrew's trophy against what we expect to be a very strong Continental side," said Tony Disley, chairman of the R&A selection committee.
