Auchinleck survive Huntly comeback to book place in the third round
Auchinleck Talbot 4, Huntly 3
Ayrshire junior side Auchinleck Talbot booked a third round meeting with Second Division leaders Stirling Albion after a thrilling victory over Highland League Huntly in their second-round replay.
The West Region Super League leaders got off to a perfect start when Bryan Slavin opened the scoring after seven minutes.
It then went from bad to worse for the visitors, who had to replace injured goalkeeper Ross Bremner midway through the first half. Gavin Robertson came on and was soon picking the ball out of the net as John Boyle and Steven White added further goals before half time.
Despite trailing 3-0 at the break, Huntly put up a valiant attempt at a comeback. Michael Ewen pulled a goal back in the 57th minute before substitute Andrew Fraser narrowed the deficit further with just seven minutes left.
Huntly's challenge faded three minutes later when Auchinleck substitute Danny McKelvie made it 4-2 and it rendered Stuart Soane's 90th-minute effort nothing more than a consolation for the Higland side.
Threave Rvrs 1, Whitehill Welfare 0
Threave Rovers, the South of Scotland League champions, edged out ten-man Whitehill of the East of Scotland League thanks to Sam Warren's goal on the hour mark at Meadow Park.
Warren accepted a pass from Mark Nicol and his left foot strike from 18 yards found the back of the net.
Whitehill then had Kevin Haynes sent off for second yellow, but it took a brilliant stopped by Rovers keeper Vinnie Parker in 88 minutes to deny Kevin Lee's a late equaliser from 20 yards.
