Scott top manager again as Dundee take the high road

AFTER coming through an intense period of seven games in 27 days, in three different competitions with four wins and two draws, as well as a cup final to look forward to, the Dundee manager Jocky Scott was voted the Irn-Bru Phenomenal First Division manager of the month for October.

Scott's side defeated Annan Athletic 3-0 in the Alba Challenge Cup semi-final, and saw off Partick Thistle, Morton and Raith Rovers in the Irn-Bru First Division. There were draws on away trips to Ayr and Dunfermline, with the only defeat in the month coming against Rangers in the Co-operative Insurance Cup fourth round.

Scott won the manager's trophy for a second month running and he said: "Picking up awards is a pleasant habit and long may it continue. It has been a hectic period and we have come through it to be level with Queen of the South at the top of the league, having started behind them.

"We are only a third of the way through the season, but I can't thank the players enough for their efforts so far."

To emphasise the team effort, Scott added: "We must be doing something right as I have a goalkeeper and defenders at one end keeping goals out in fine style, a hard- working midfield and exciting forwards at the other sticking goals in."

Inverness stand in the way of Dundee picking up silverware later this month when the sides meet at McDiarmid Park in the Alba Cup final, with Scott saying: "It is a really good feeling to have a cup final to look forward to and it would be great to win a trophy for the club as well."

The only defeat for Scott's side was when Rangers won 3-1 at Dens Park, however Dundee's performance that night made the manager a proud man. "The players were fantastic that night and there was a half-an-hour spell in that game where we were very much the better side. If we can do that against the champions of Scotland I would like to think that we can hit those heights against teams in our league over the coming weeks."
