Scott frustrated at missing two targets
DUNDEE manager Jocky Scott has voiced his disappointment at losing out on Dave MacKay and Murray Davidson – but insists that's just a consequence of targeting better players.
The Dark Blues thought they were about to capture the pair after agreeing a 75,000 deal with Livingston last week but SPL new boys St Johnstone nipped in with an offer at the 11th hour to snatch them away. Scott had hoped to bring MacKay back to Dens Park after working with him as a youngster, while he sees Davidson as an emerging star of the future.
But the pair opted for top flight football, leaving Scott now looking at other options. He said: "We've lost out on the two Livi boys to St Johnstone so it's just a case of looking at other people now. It's a disappointment because I would have really liked to have brought Dave MacKay back. He's a player who I thought could have done a job for us straight away. Murray Davidson is also a player I think has got a bright future but it's gone now and we'll move on.
"The problem we've got is that I'm looking at quality players so that means other people are paying attention to them as well."
Scott is looking to bring a striker in and has been linked with a move for Clyde's Pat Clarke, one of several likely to be leaving cash-strapped Clyde.
