Scott builds Dundee squad with double Livingston signing
DUNDEE have had a £75,000 bid accepted by Livingston for Dave MacKay and Murray Davidson.
Dens Park manager Jocky Scott, who has been handed a sizeable transfer war chest by millionaire new director Callum Melville, tabled his offer on Wednesday and was given permission to speak to the players. Scott gave MacKay his debut for Dundee in 1999 after bringing him through the Dens youth system and is keen to bring the 29-year-old back to Tayside to bolster the club's promotion bid next season.
The veteran manager is also an admirer of midfielder Davidson, who has been outstanding for the Lions since making his debut two years ago, and sees him as a star of the future. Scott has held discussions with both players but is aware there is other interest in them, with several SPL clubs also ready to pounce.
However, he is hoping the promise of more exciting signings over the summer will persuade them to remain in the First Division for at least another season to join his Dens revolution.
Dundee also recently bid 100,000 for Livi's teen sensation Leigh Griffiths but cash-strapped Livi knocked back their offer.
The 18-year-old, voted the First Division Player of the Year last weekend, has been on trial with West Brom and seems destined for a move to England over the summer.
Meanwhile, Scott has several selection problems ahead of the season finale against Partick Thistle this weekend. Mickael Antoine-Curier is banned, while Eric Paton, Giorgos Efrem, Paul McHale, Craig McKeown and Colin Cameron are all injured. Scott revealed: "We are really down to the bare bones but we'll just have to get on with it.
"It's the last game of the season and we want to finish on a high so I'm expecting a good performance from the lads."
