Scots teams both in semi-finals
SCOTLAND staged a stirring fightback to beat fourth seeds Sweden 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the European senior men's amateur team golf championship at Fairhaven Golf Club, Lancashire.
The Scots, who qualified fifth of eigtht for the top flight, were trailing 2-0 to the Swedes, but came storming back to set up a semi-final against red-hot favourites Ireland, who knocked out Switzerland 5-0. England play Spain in the second sem-final.
Scotland's women also achieved a marvellous win, beating defending champions Germany 4-2 at the European senior women's amateur golf championship at Sporting Club Berlin yesterday. They also play Ireland, while the second semi-final is between top seeds England and Switzerland.
