Scots Boys in early setback
SCOTLAND'S young golfers suffered an early setback in the Boys' Home Internationals as they lost 8½-6½ to Ireland at Royal County Down yesterday.
The Scots, who won the title in 2006, had edged the morning foursomes 3-2 but the host nation were back on terms in the singles as Luke Lennox surged to a 7 and 6 win over James Ross of Royal Burgess.
Ranfurly Castle's Sam Binning lost 2 and 1 to Chris Drumm but Scottish Boys' champion Michael Stewart levelled the match with a one-hole win over Reeve Whitson.
Inchmarlo's Chris Robb and Mark Bookless both won but defeats for Kyle Smith, Colin Thomson, Andrew McLachlan and David Law sealed the Scots' fate.
England beat Wales 8-6.
