Scots suffer double loss against English

HOCKEY: Scotland lost 3-1 to a truncated England side yesterday, part of the early build-up for the first round of the World League in Portugal later this summer.

The Scots found themselves two down at the interval, but pulled one back in 50 minutes. Adam MacKenzie’s drag-flick was blocked by the English goalkeeper and Fergus Dunn, now playing for English side Surbiton, moved in to slot home the rebound.

Any revival was effectively stifled when the English restored their two-goal lead with a scrappy goal five minutes later.

In Saturday’s match between the sides, Scotland lost by the same scoreline, with Dan Coultas on target for Eugene Connolly’s men.
