Scotland job would simply add fuel to Levein's Old Firm fire
MY advice to Craig Levein, former player and successful manager of Hearts and now of Dundee United, is not to touch the Scotland job with the proverbial barge poll, because his problems with the Old Firm will be multiplied tenfold.
Coming to the end of his professional career and similarly qualified, Jim Jefferies would be less troubled in that respect, and should give it a go, however the quality of player at his disposal, and the malign influence of the Old Firm, will handicap him as it has handicapped others.
Common sense seems to suggest we forget Scotland and lend support to England and/or Ireland, where the majority of the population's sympathies seem to lie – certainly so far as the Old Firm are concerned.
