Scotland fans' views

Karen Forbes, Stockbridge: "It was really good to see us get a win. The second half was difficult after they scored. 42,500 on a Wednesday night is a pretty good crowd, although it was a bit of a bottleneck getting to Hampden and we nearly missed kick off. I can't believe McGregor and Ferguson found places on the bench though – it makes their omission from the team for a breach of discipline a bit half-baked."

Davie Carrigan, North Edinburgh: "It was nerve wracking right the way through it and I wish James Morrison had finished it off with about ten minutes to go and so avoided the kind of nail biter of a finish we saw! Still, a win is a win and it keeps us in the hunt for now."

Malky Moriarty, Niddrie: "I think Scotland did just enough but the game was boring for large parts of it and it seemed like Iceland had most of the ideas and better chances. They'll be disappointed but not often do we get the rub of the green."

Darren Healy, Glenrothes: "Great to see a Hibs player score for Scotland but it's about time that Derek Riordan was also included too. I thought Alan Hutton was absolutely superb."

Mark Summers, Bahrain: "Iceland had three decent attempts in the last minute. We are the second placed team with the least points by some distance and need to win the last three games to have a chance. That home draw against Norway is costly now. Gordon, Hutton and Fletcher were the stand-out players for me."

John Ingram, Leith: "We really rode our luck at times in this one and on another night I could have seen the game going the way of Iceland – I think it's fair to say they created the better chances over the 90 minutes. To get the three points was the main thing and I'd agree with Burley that to win ugly was no problem here."

Paul Fergus, Musselburgh: "We needed the three points and that's all that matters. It keeps us in the hunt and let's hope we can get that win in Oslo which is essential to stay anywhere near the play offs."
