Scobbie fit and ready to help Falkirk escape the drop

FALKIRK defender Tam Scobbie is hopeful he can put an injury-ravaged campaign behind himself and help keep the club in the SPL.

The 20-year-old has had to endure two hernia operations and another spell on the sidelines with tendinitis in his groin, restricting him to just nine SPL appearances all season.

The Scotland Under-21 internationalist confesses his inactivity has been frustrating, as his team-mates have struggled to remove themselves from the relegation scrap. However, the full-back is determined he will be able to play his part in the season's finale, starting with tonight's home meeting with Dundee United.

He said: "It's been stop-start for me this season from pretty much the word go and it's been disappointing because it's the first time I've really been injured in my career.

"It's been frustrating watching the guys working so hard and not reaping the rewards they should. Sitting second bottom, you want to be out digging away with them and trying to get up the table.

"But I got 90 minutes under my belt on Saturday against Hibs, so hopefully I've turned the corner and I can put that injury behind me."

Dundee United must get back to winning ways against Falkirk tonight, according to striker Warren Feeney. The Tannadice side slipped five points behind in the race for European football on Saturday by losing to third-placed Hearts.

A slump in form since the turn of the year has allowed what was once a chasing pack to bunch right up behind Craig Levein's men.

United have won only once in the last eight weeks but Feeney, the on-loan Cardiff striker remains confident.

"The quicker we get a win the better, to be honest. This is a must-win game for us now.

"I was looking at the form table recently and we were not even in the top six but I don't think that's a true reflection of the way we've been playing."
