Schools swimming: Benson joins swim team at Red Sky

SWIMMING: Craig Benson, the James Young High School pupil who will be competing for Team GB at the Olympics in London in just over 11 weeks’ time, has been signed by Red Sky Management.

The Edinburgh agency already has three Team GB swimmers – Hannah Miley, Michael Jamieson and Robbie Renwick – on the books.

The hope is that another Red Sky Scottish swimmer, the double 2006 Commonwealth Games Champion David Carry, will add his name to the list at next month’s second round of trials in Sheffield.

Benson clinched his qualification in the 100m breaststroke at the first trials in London in March and the achievement secured the Whitburn athlete the Quarter Award.
