Rusty Wolves blown away
EDINBURGH Wolves suffered a 34-0 defeat to runaway conference leaders Dundee Hurricanes in their British American Football League clash at Meadowbank
The Wolves hadn't played for two months and showed signs of rustiness.
The first quarter ended scoreless, but the Hurricanes scored twice in the second quarter with a run by Mahamadou Niakate and a touchdown pass to Thomson.
With a half-time deficit of only 14 points, the Wolves were confident they could turn the game around. However, the game drifted away at a similar rate as the injuries piled up. Dundee scored another touchdown to make it 20-0 at the end of the third quarter and took advantage of the tiring Wolves defence to pick up another two scores.
Wolves coach Don Edmonston said: "It was a bad day at the office for the team. Players were injured early and we had to make changes to adjust. We weren't able to play to our strengths either. The only good thing is that we still have five games left in the season."
The Wolves take on Manchester Titans at Meadowbank on Saturday with a 2pm kick-off.
