Rugby: Kinross makes up for missed opportunities

PRESTON LODGE kicker Greg Kinross held his nerve to guide his side to their second home win on the trot in Scottish Hydro National Two.

The East Lothian side were trailing Stewartry 15-14 with eight minutes to go at the Pennypit when they were awarded a penalty. Centre Kinross had missed a few other attempts at goal earlier in the match, but made no mistake to put the ball through the uprights as they won 17-15.

The victory comes two weeks after a win over Caithness and PL, after a terrible start to the campaign, are now out of the drop zone sitting six points above Stewartry and eight ahead of Cambuslang. Hooker Nick Marsh grabbed PL's only try.

In National One, Linlithgow won 22-16 at Peffermill against Edinburgh University to keep themselves fourth in the table. Murrayfield Wanderers lost 10-5 at Annan while RHC Cougars went down 31-3 at Dalziel and Livingston were defeated 18-13 at home to Berwick.

Trinity Accies had a superb 6-0 win over third-placed Marr as they continue to battle against the drop from National Three. Ross High won 45-12 at home to Gordonians but Forrester lost at Allan Glen's.

North Berwick and Portobello continue to lead the way in East One, the former beating Broughton and the latter seeing off Duns on Saturday.
