Rugby: John Houston's Plan A is to carry on where he left off in the Summer

SCOTLAND'S A side return to the fray against Tonga at Galashiels tonight for the first time since triumphing in the Nations Cup during the summer.

And Edinburgh centre John Houston, one of seven survivors from the team which lifted that trophy with a win over France's shadow squad in Romania, is hopeful of carrying on where they left off while continuing to contribute to a feel good factor.

He said: "Winning the Nations Cup started things on a good note (this season) and the pro teams have performed well in the Magner's League. There's a good vibe and more interest in Scottish rugby – better coverage in the press."

As for that Nations Cup success, Houston added: "It was especially pleasing because there were quality teams including from France and Italy. To come away with the victory was great."

For Houston it will be a third encounter with Tongan opposition, having faced their under-21s with Scotland and also when they visited Edinburgh en route to the 2007 World Cup.

"They will be very physical and good with ball in hand," he said.

Tonga make four changes, including both wingers, from the side which lost 19-48 to Ireland A in Belfast last weekend.
