Rugby: Heriot's ace Fusaro poised to make his return
ONE of Scotland's top rugby prospects is preparing to make a long-awaited comeback when Heriot's visit Watsonians in the Premiership on Saturday.
Flanker Chris Fusaro has been sidelined since damaging an elbow in September but is at the point of being cleared to continue his bid for a professional contract next season. For Heriot's coach Bob McKillop, it is a further boost to add to momentum gained from two recent British and Irish Cup matches, which took the Goldenacre side up a level to face professional opposition in Nottingham and Coventry.
McKillop says: "It is possible Chris Fusaro could be back at some stage in a fixture which can usually be relied upon to produce good rugby despite the fact ourselves and Watsonians are lying 10th and 11th respectively in the table at the moment."
For McKillop there are clear indications that the British & Irish Cup is re-invigorating Heriot's for their league campaign.
He said: "For starters we didn't pick up the heavy injury toll that some feared and forwards such as Dylan Mason and Matt Reid in particular learned a lot.
"Overall we are enjoying our rugby again."
