Rugby: Boroughmuir plump for Pringle as club's new coach
BOROUGHMUIR have turned to their title-winning captain for a coaching lead next season.
Former Edinburgh and Scotland A second row Fergus Pringle, 31, has been appointed unanimously by the board to succeed Eamon John who is standing down due to his business commitments.
It will be South African-born Pringle's first venture into club coaching but Boroughmuir president Stan Watt is convinced his playing experience will be invaluable. "Fergus eats, sleeps and drinks rugby. He is already a qualified coach up to grade two level and certainly has the respect of our players for his abilities and charisma."
Pringle has captained Boroughmuir for the past two seasons, winning the Premiership in 2007-08.
Watt added: "Fergus will continue playing if required. To assist him we will be looking to appoint a specialist backs coach within the next few weeks."
It is understood the post attracted at least one application from south of the Border. Pringle had 49 outings for Edinburgh up until May 2008 while only one Boroughmuir player made more than his 24 appearances for the club last season.
