Rugby: Barnes' shuffle fine for Accies

THE decision of Edinburgh Accies coach Ian Barnes to shuffle his side was vindicated when the Raeburn Place side posted an impressive 24-15 away win over Dundee High, writes COLIN RENTON.

Accies trailed 15-11 at the break before battling back in the second period. They had tries from Alex Blair and David O'Hagen, who also kicked four penalties and a conversion for a personal haul of 19 points. The result leaves Barnes' men sixth in the table, just ahead of Capital rivals, Heriot's and Boroughmuir.

Heriot's suffered a 30-12 defeat away to league strugglers Selkirk. The Goldenacre outfit were still in touch at the break, turning round 15-12 in arrears. But the hosts turned up the heat to inflict a sixth defeat on the Capital side.

'Muir were also in the Borders and they suffered a similar fate, going down 35-13 at Melrose.

In Division Two, Haddington were beaten 27-10 by pacesetters Stirling County.

There were better fortunes for Musselburgh who moved away from the foot of Division Three when they saw off Ardrossan Accies 32-15 at Stoneyhill.
