Seven people in Scotland have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to data released by the Scottish Government.

This brings the total number of deaths from Covid-19 in Scotland to 2,422, the First Minister said at her daily news briefing on Tuesday.

Nicola Sturgeon said 15,653 people have tested positive for Covid-19, an increase of 14 from yesterday.

3,820 people have been discharged from hospital after receiving treatment for the virus since 5 March.

The news of seven further deaths in Scotland follows two consecutive days of zero deaths being registered - but Ms Sturgeon says this is "not a surprise" given the lag of registering deaths at weekends.
