Scottish schoolboy Wilson to turn out for England U18s
TALENTED Eyemouth schoolboy Scott Wilson will take the next step on the international rugby ladder tomorow, for England.
The 17-year-old who moved from Eyemouth High School to Sedbergh School in Cumbria for his final year has come through the Newcastle Falcons youth system. So impressed were the Premiership club that they offered him a full-time professional deal in December and once he finishes school this summer he will turn pro.
Yesterday, England named him as one of a host of new faces in their first under-18 team of 2012, to play France at Fylde RFC’s Woodlands Memorial Ground tomorrow.
Playing for England at Under-18 level will not tie him to England, and nor would an appearance at Under-20 level,
Wilson told The Scotsman that Eyemouth and the Borders remain his home, but having been pulled into the English system as a 16-year-old he is keen to make the most of the opportunities now before having to make up his mind where his future lies.
“My goal is just to keep enjoying rugby and reach the highest level I can,” he said.
