Rugby: Ross on a High after sealing their third victory in a row
Ross HIGH’S superb run in RBS East One continued on Saturday as they clocked up their third victory on the spin.
Heading in to their East Lothian derby at North Berwick towards the end of last month, the men from Tranent were near the bottom end of the table with only three league wins to their name.
Fast forward a few weeks and now they have six under their belts and sit in fifth place, on Saturday adding to the good results over North Berwick and Trinity Accies with a 29-10 defeat of Forrester at home.
At the top of the table, champions Preston Lodge warmed up for their biggest test of the season with a comfortable home win over Lismore.
This coming Saturday they face RBS National One leaders Musselburgh in the much- anticipated RBS Edinburgh Regional Shield semi-final, and at the weekend they ran in 13 tries in a 79-5 victory.
Jonathan Brash and Darren Eales led the way with hat-tricks.
The only negative for PL was Gregg Kinross’s red card for what the referee deemed a dangerous tackle.
Portobello beat North Berwick 31-14 at Cavalry Park, and Trinity Accies went down 36-13 at Berwick.
In RBS East Two, Dunbar kept up their amazing season with a 22-11 win over Hawick Linden. Dalkeith and Penicuik lost to Earlston and Gala YM respectively.
Edinburgh Northern defeated RDVC 15-5 in RBS East Three.
