Rugby: Johnstone’s 21-point haul leads the way for Murrayfield
Scrum-half Murray Johnstone’s fine individual season continued with 21 points as Murrayfield Wanderers won at Garnock on Saturday.
The Capital side won 31-3 in the RBS National One clash in Ayrshire with the youngster leading the way with three tries and three conversions, while former Broughton and Currie man Adam McFarlane scored two tries from No.8.
The victory on Saturday leaves Wanderers in fourth place with Musselburgh at the top.
Musselburgh went away to mid-table Kilmarnock and came back with a satisfactory 33-13 win. At the same time, Hawick YM had taken the long road to Ellon and managed to secure a 45-3 victory.
Linlithgow stayed in second bottom spot after they battled hard, but ultimately went down 13-0 at Langholm.
Edinburgh University Blues stayed just three points above Linlithgow and Garnock after going down 54-21 at Dunfermline. RHC Cougars are in fifth after a comfortable 47-10 win at the bottom side Livingston.
