Rugby: Sharks owner hails city club

Inverleith rugby club’s highest profile ex-player, today sent a goodwill message ahead of a reunion at tomorrow’s match with neighbours Edinburgh Northern at Arboretum.

Sale Sharks owner Brian Kennedy, yesterday spurned in his bid to takeover Rangers FC, will miss out on the get-together, but says of the club he turned out for in the 1990s when home in his native Edinburgh: “I absolutely loved playing with these lads and loved going on tour with them to Ireland.

“I’m sure they will have a brilliant time at the reunion and wish the club all the best.”
