Rugby Rocks sevens set to be capital cracker

A NUMBER of high calibre sevens teams will descend on Boroughmuir’s Meggetland ground in the capital this weekend for Rugby Rocks Edinburgh.

The event, in association with Puma, is in its second year and will see a number of tournaments taking place at varying levels. From 9am this morning the men’s elite event kicks off and it is likely to showcase some great talent from Scotland and beyond. A number of social teams made up of club players from the RBS leagues will be on show including charity team the Pigbarians who include Boroughmuir duo Malcolm Clapperton and Iain Moody in their squad along with Scotland Sevens cap Greig Ryan.

Teams such as the British Army are expected to prove tough to beat.

Organiser Ross Samson, the London Irish scrum-half, said: “The elite event really is shaping up to be a cracker. Hopefully a big crowd will get down, while Edinburgh and Glasgow Warriors players will be there watching and signing autographs.”
