EDINBURGH RUGBY strengthened their front-row reserves today with the signing of experienced Argentinian prop Ulises Gamboa from RaboDirect PRO12 rivals Aironi until the end of the season.
The 36-year-old internationalist could make a debut in Friday’s clash with Ospreys at Murrayfield.
Capped eight times, Gamboa can play on either side of the scrum and has been brought in to strengthen options up front where three players are currently unavailable due to international selection and injury.
Allan Jacobsen and Geoff Cross are both on RBS Six Nations duty with Scotland while Lewis Niven, 23, has a back strain.
Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley said: “Ulises is a prop of considerable experience, having been capped for one of the set-piece powerhouses of world rugby [Argentina]. He’ll provide valuable support for the squad until the end of the season when we’ll reassess his place at the club.”
