Rugby: Livingston revival gathers pace with win at Portobello

Winger Geoff Caldwell took his season tally to five tries with a double that led
Livingston to a 34-14 win at home to Portobello in RBS East One on Saturday.

The experienced former
Currie player scored tries number three and six of six as the West Lothian club’s revival continued.

After a couple of tough years, they have now won their first five matches in the new-look division, with players like Caldwell and Andy McMahon, who have played in the top flight, leading from the front.

As well as Caldwell’s two tries, Ross Neil, Ewan Naysmith, Scott Paris and Graeme Steel all went over on Saturday as they secured the bonus point having been 17-11 up at the break.

Preston Lodge are still above Livingston on points difference at the top of the table, though, after beating Langholm 43-15 to notch their fifth win in a row.

Linlithgow are third after they edged out Dunbar
16-15 in a tight encounter, while North Berwick played well to see off Berwick 37-17 and RHC
Cougars went down 40-18 at Duns.

Dalkeith are still unbeaten at the top of RBS East Two after seeing off Hawick
Harlequins 31-3.

In the same division,
Lismore saw off Ross High
28-5, with Forrester gaining a
19-19 draw at Gala YM.
Edinburgh Northern and
Trinity Accies both lost at home.

Inverleith are still leading RBS East Three after a 28-20 win at St Boswells, and Leith put RDVC to the sword 74-0.
