Rugby: Livi put dent in Preston’s tilt at title

Livingston remain unbeaten
at the top of RBS East One
after defeating title rivals
Preston Lodge on Saturday at the Pennypit in one of the best games of this season.

The 32-24 win means that the West Lothian outfit have won 12 from 12 and have a one point lead over second placed RHC Cougars and a six point advantage over PL. It was PL’s first home defeat in three years, so it shows just how well Livingston had to play to head home with the points.

Livingston scored four tries through Craig Bolan, Ross Neil, John Bruton and Jamie Miller, with Bolan adding 12 points with the boot through three conversions and two penalties.

PL also scored four tries to earn a bonus point in defeat. They came from Andrew Clark, Paul Glynn, Paul Voy and Blair Cowan with Graeme Patterson adding two conversions.

RHC Cougars kept up their good season with a 34-13 home win over Berwick, while Linlithgow won 19-14 at Portobello and Dunbar defeated North Berwick 22-10 at Hallhill.

In RBS East Two Dalkeith kept up the pressure on leaders
Hawick Linden with an
85-0 win away to Lismore.

Forrester won 31-26 at Earlston, Trinity Accies won at Ross High 24-3, but Edinburgh Northern lost to Hawick Harlequins.

Penicuik now top RBS East Three after a 13-6 win at Queensferry, while Leith beat Inverleith and Liberton were edged out at Walkerburn 28-27.
