Rugby: Lineen selects Chalmers for Scotland U-20s

Sam Chalmers, son of former Scotland and Lions stand-off, Craig, is included in a Scotland under-20 rugby training squad of 40 from October 8-10 under new coach Sean Lineen.

Also included is Rhys Davies, who made his Currie debut against Aberdeen this month having just returned from an international playing scholarship at The Bay of Plenty/ Inside Running Academy, New Zealand. Rhys is now at Loughborough University.

Edinburgh Accies provide seven players: Calum Black, Tom Hancock, Sam Pecqueur, Cameron Simpson, Aaron Welsh, Ruaridh Young and Jamie Farndale who returns from last year’s squad along with Boroughmuir pair Alex Henderson and Keith Buchan as well as Jonny Gray (Glasgow), Will Bordill (Sale) and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne who has switched from stand-off to scrum-half at Heriot’s.

Other Edinburgh-based call-ups are Phil Cringle, the Isle of Man reared youngster who is turning out for Stewart’s Melville and the Boroughmuir duo of Damien Hoyland and Robbie Wilson.
