Rugby: Leck had no doubts about pledging future to Edinburgh

As speculation intensifies over whether Mike Blair will pursue his rugby career away from Edinburgh next season, one of the scrum halves who would be left behind has re-affirmed his commitment to the Capital club.

Ex-Sale Sharks ace Chris Leck, who has been named in the Edinburgh team to face Newport Gwent Dragons in tomorrow’s RaboDirect Pro 12 clash at Murrayfield, last week agreed a two-year contract extension which will keep him at the club until 2014. He said: “I have enjoyed it from as soon as I came up (from England). After the first block of games I was loving it. It was a no- brainer to re-sign for the club.”

The Six Nations period has seen Leck start the last four Edinburgh games and he adds: “The style Edinburgh play is brilliant. It’s fast, expansive; not just kick-it-down-the-throat.”

Meanwhile, asked by the Evening News last November about his next move when his contract expired, Blair said: It’s always at the back of your mind – but there’s nothing to report yet.”
