Rugby: Heriot’s hope to pile on points at Dundee

Heriot’s have a chance to
enter the top four of the Scottish Rugby Premiership – which
ultimately guarantees a British and Irish Cup place –when
visiting Dundee High tomorrow.

The Capital outfit would help those prospects by maintaining a rich vein of scoring form in this fixture where the last three instalments – two of which they have won – saw them amass 98 points.

One of the players who has done much damage against his old team, Colin Goudie, returns from a finger injury to the wing. Goudie replaces the unavailable Max Nimmo, while OJ Brown is introduced to stand off.

Up front Gavin Cameron is called into the front row while Jamie Parker starts at flanker.

Dundee need a win to ease relegation fears and coach Ian Rankin said: “Having won our last three league games and had a massive lift in intensity that the B&I Cup brings our mindset is good. But over the last two seasons the fixture has averaged 50 points a game and Heriot’s have upped their consistency this season.”

Other games on the schedule are regional cup ties and at Malleny Park Currie entertain Watsonians looking to boost their chances of a final place against Heriot’s. Missing for Currie side is prop John Cox, who has had six titanium plates inserted in his jaw after two operations following a collision against Gala last weekend.

A space has been left for another prop currently fighting a fitness battle, Fraser Watts.

Watsonians have Scotland sevens internationalist Jack Ferguson on the wing while teenage hooker Ali Ross starts on the bench.

Tonight (7.30) Boroughmuir wrap up their campaign at home to Stewart’s/Melville. For ’Muir, Robert Cairns is at full back with Ross Bradford on the wing. Stuart Currie is expected to debut from off the bench,
