Rugby: Dunbar live dangerously but hold on to go fifth
Dunbar are making a habit of edging close matches after they saw off Berwick 23-20 to post their fourth win of the RBS East One season on Saturday.
Last season’s RBS East Two champions and national Bowl finalists defeated East Lothian rivals North Berwick away by two points last week and once again had the team spirit to come through on their own patch against Berwick. John Peebles, Jamie Peters and Andrew Wightman were the men who went over for their tries to put Dunbar fifth in the table.
At the top Livingston made it eight wins from eight beating RHC Cougars 35-21 at Almond Park. Andy McMahon led the way with two tries with Craig Bolan, Aaron Johnston, Jamie Miller and Jamie King also crossing.
Second placed Preston Lodge got the better of Linlithgow 31-5 at the Pennypit, Keith Duncan, Rory Monk, Blair Robertson (2) and Peter Johnston all going over for tries.
North Berwick were edged out 6-3 at Langholm.
Dalkeith stayed out on top of RBS East Two with a 20-10 home win over Earlston.
Three other local clubs lost in that division though, Forrester 51-31 to Hawick Linden, Trinity Accies 28-22 at Hawick Harlequins and Ross High 29-13 at home to Gala YM. Gareth Marshall and Kenny Dannfald scored tries for Leith in a 12-10 RBS East Three victory at Penicuik. Queensferry had a 44-5 win over Liberton and RDVC won 25-13 at Walkerburn.
