Rugby: Capital side Forrester fire themselves ahead of Hawick

Forrester have leapfrogged their opponents to occupy fifth spot in the league table after seeing off Hawick Linden 31-6 on RBS East League Division One duty. Tries by David Allan, Gavin Sisson, Michael Banks and Neil Robertson, who also contributed 11 points with the boot, produced an impressive victory for the Capital side.

Across the city, Lismore are still seeking their first success of the campaign after going down 29-15 against Berwick.

The day’s only Division Two fixture was a tight affair at Bangholm, where Broughton were edged out 20-17 by Penicuik. The home side led 10-5 at the break, but the visitors took advantage of the Bangholm slope in the second period to build a 20-10 lead before a late converted try handed the hosts a narrow defeat bonus point.

The win moves Penicuik into fifth spot while Broughton occupy the bottom slot following the withdrawal of Moray House.
