Rugby: Campese wants Wallaby coach to go in wake of Scotland loss

Former Wallaby great David Campese is at the heart of major fall-out down under after Scotland spiked Australian rugby guns with a 9-6 tour victory.

World Cup winner Campese turned up the heat on his former side with their New Zealand coach the main target. Though he now lives in South African Campese used social media to put his message across, declaring: “Records keep falling under Deans. So let’s move on. How to destroy Aus rugby. By Robbie Deans.”

While Deans can expect further resignation calls, the Australian Rugby Union are also under fire today for arranging the fixture against Scotland between Super 15 provincial matches and Saturday’s Test against Six Nations Grand Slam champions Wales.

Ex-Wallaby hooker Phil Kearns led the attack, saying: “The ARU needs to take some responsibility. Whether the game plan was right or wrong that’s Robbie’s responsibility. But to lay all the blame at his feet is a bit rich. By scheduling a Test on a Tuesday . . . a couple of guys have played some pretty intense Super Rugby, but (it’s) also four days before another major Test match against Wales.”
