Robinson follows his namesake to Bristol

Bristol have announced the signing of Wales stand-off Nicky Robinson from Wasps. Robinson, 31, has agreed a three-year deal, starting next season.

The move comes three days after Championship club Bristol unveiled former England and Scotland coach Andy Robinson as their new rugby director.

Robinson, who has 13 Welsh caps, joined Wasps from Aviva Premiership rivals Gloucester in 2011. Prior to that he played for Cardiff Blues. He said: “I am excited about the project at Bristol Rugby and the future that lies ahead. Bristol has a famous
history and the rugby club is a huge part of the city. I will be proud to represent them and contribute to the team and the goals they have set.

“I am under no illusions about the scale of the task ahead. It doesn’t matter if Bristol are in the Championship or Premiership next season, there will be some tough challenges to come.

“I am looking forward to testing myself, developing my game and helping the club push on.”

Wasps rugby director David Young said: “Nick is joining a club at a very exciting time and I am sure he will play a big part in helping them realise their ambitions. Nick is not only a very experienced and good player, but also a good bloke who will work well in any environment.”
