RBS National League Rugby: Miller time for leaders

Watsonians head coach Marcus Di Rollo has handed Ewan Miller a start as the RBS National League leaders look to make it eight wins in a row this afternoon at home to Hamilton.

Winger Miller gave Di Rollo a selection headache last week when he scored a superb second-half hat-trick of tries coming off the bench in his top team debut at Kelso.

With centre Scott McKean unavailable this week Miller’s rise could not have come at a better time for ‘Sonians, with Jack Ferguson shifting inside from the wing to accommodate him. Di Rollo said: “Ewan did well last week and overall I was really pleased with the way the team played. We’re not getting too carried away and are taking it one game at a time. Hamilton are always a tough team to play against and I expect no different this time.”

Hamilton travel east to Myreside in buoyant mood, taking confidence from getting back to winning ways with a come-from-behind success last week against Hillhead/Jordanhill.

Second placed Glasgow Hawks are involved in a city derby at Hughenden against Hillhead/Jordanhill. For the visitors James Gormley keeps his place at full-back after impressing on debut last week.

Third placed Hawick host Jed-Forest in what is sure to be a fiery Borders derby with Selkirk hopeful of a full match this week when they take on Stewart’s Melville at Inverleith after last week’s encounter with Biggar was cut short due to a refereeing injury. Biggar and Kelso also meet at Hartreemill.
