Paterson kicking class at Strathallan
STRATHALLAN School pupils George Horne and Josh Henderson were recently treated to a kicking masterclass by Scottish rugby legend Chris Paterson.
George is a member of the Scottish Under-18 National Academy squad and Josh has been selected for next month’s Scottish under-16 training camp at Loretto School.
Paterson, Scotland’s most capped player and record points scorer, is now a Scottish Rugby Union Ambassador and is passing on his kicking knowledge to the next generation.
“Chris now has a myriad of roles and we were delighted he found the time to spend an afternoon with our two promising rugby players,” said George Henderson, Strahallan’s director of rugby.
“It was a great benefit and I will now try and replicate the sessions. George and Josh also now have some homework to do to improve their kicking skills.”
George, Cameron Fenton (both under-18) and Jamie Ritchie (under-17) are the three Strathallan pupils in the Under-18 National Academy squad.
“We are not the biggest school in terms of numbers, but it is great to have boys playing at national level,” Henderson continued. “George is very promising and is already linked to the Tayside and Fife Institute Programme.”
